Vulnerability in Python (De)Compression Module zlib

Monday April 14, 2008
Justin Ferguson from IOActive recently found a vulnerability in the zlib module of Python 2.5.2. While that particular version has been proven to be vulnerable, it is thought that the zlib module on all current versions of Python may have the same weakness. It should, however, be noted that this vulnerability was found in the lab, so to speak, and not in the wild. In fact, one is right to question how likely this particular weakness is likely to occur in real code, nevermind be exploited. The subversion repository has already been fixed.
