Backing Up Your Google Email

Given the amount of space that Google gives you for Gmail and the historic stability of their service, you could not be faulted for wondering, "Why would I want to backup my Google email?" I can think of at least four reasons.

Carrying on from the recent discussion on using Python's poplib library, you can now read the first part of a series on how to make your own local copy of your Gmail.
