Let Your LAMP Shine: New Python Web Jobs

Friday November 3, 2006
More than once, someone has noted that it can be difficult finding a job that requires Python -- almost as if they don't exist. Then someone in the same discussion usually notes that Python is used all over the place; the difference is that Python programmers tend to really enjoy their jobs and so don't leave them. But there still are many available, if you know where to look. More often than not, Python works in conjunction with other technologies to form a solution. So in addition to the regular area for Python jobs, I list here some recent vacancies that require web-oriented skills -- Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Python (LAMP). If you need more information on any of those, be sure to visit those links. If you are still unsure how Python and MySQL go together, see my tutorials. Then dust off your CV or resume and see if you are ready for one of these posts.
  • LAMP Developer: The New York Times needs a LAMPlighter in, of all places, New York City.
  • LAMP Web App Architect: VideoEgg is pushing the limits on web-based video in San Francisco.
  • Back End Web Developer: If you collect a paycheck, there is a very good chance that you know or have heard of ATD in South Carolina.
  • LAMP Developer: If you know someone who can do this well, you could get $750 USD for the referral.
If you are unsure how high a salary to expect from these positions, you may want to use this salary checker and find out. Of course, if none of these jobs appeal to you, try the non-Web listings in the "Python Jobs" section.
