Scales of the Python: YouTube is Written in Python!

As you probably know, the creator of Python, Guido van Rossum works for Google. Google uses Python for its search engine quality, and half of Guido's work-week is spent in developing the Python interpreter. Yesterday on the Python-Dev list (a mailing list specifically for people who work on the Python interpreter), Guido wrote that well-known YouTube is written in Python:

And I just found out (after everyone else probably :-) that YouTube is almost entirely written in Python. (And now I can rub shoulders with the developers since they're all Googlers now... :-)

If ever there was a question of Python's ability to scale to really BIG projects, I think that has been settled now.
