As you probably know, the creator of Python, Guido van Rossum works for Google. Google uses Python for its search engine quality, and half of Guido's work-week is spent in developing the Python interpreter.
Yesterday on the Python-Dev list (a mailing list specifically for people who work on the Python interpreter), Guido wrote that well-known YouTube is written in Python:

And I just found out (after everyone else probably :-) that YouTube is almost entirely written in Python. (And now I can rub shoulders with the developers since they're all Googlers now... :-)If ever there was a question of Python's ability to scale to really BIG projects, I think that has been settled now.
